Request for support for School footpath DMMO
13th of February, 2026
Simonstone Parish Council are requesting support for a Definitive Map Modification Order (DMMO) application for a footpath running from Harewood Avenue to School Lane.
Last year, Simonstone Parish Council was approached by the governors of St Peter’s School to ask if we could assist in improving the path through the school field from Harewood Avenue to School Lane (see plan). The school was concerned for the safety of pupils dropped off on School Lane and Trapp Lane and wish to encourage parents to use Harewood Avenue as a safer drop-off point. However, the path surface requires improvements and should be included in the definitive footpath map as a Public Right of Way (PROW). Simonstone Parish Council believe that the route is also a route for parish members to attend services at St Peter’s Church.
The Parish Council have been advised by LCC to obtain evidence of use (over the previous 20 years) for the school footpath, in order to support a Definitive Map Modification Order (DMMO) application. We are requesting that parishioners complete a ‘user evidence form (attached) to state that the proposed footpath through the field has been used as a footpath (for however many years you have been aware) by school children and parents, church attendees and other members of the parish.
Please submit all completed user evidence forms to the clerk at clerk@simonstone-pc.gov.uk no later that 05/03/2026.
